When is the festival.

The 2010 Forrest Fest will be held in Lamesa, Texas, at the GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL NEW COMMUNITY CENTER. Beginning Friday, April 30, 2010, the venue will host poets and musicians from across the State of Texas. Workshops will be held by visiting artists in the afternoons and a pot luck buffett on Saturday will feature Karla Morton, current Texas Poet Laureate.

This year will be our tenth anniversary of Forrest Fest in Lamesa, Texas.

What about Lodging?

There is free RV and tent camping hosted by the City of Lamesa in Forrest Park. We recommend two motels each located on Hwy. 87. The Shiloh Inn and the Budget Inn and we have a GREAT BIG NEW BEST WESTERN. Volunteers may find lodging with Lamesans participating in the festival.

What About my Pets.

Motels accept pets for a small fee.

What about the Weather

the weather ranges from slightly windy and cool and/or cloudy with light showers to VERY WARM and SUMMERY, we are prepared for anything in West Texas, so layered clothing and a wind breaker, just in case, is wise. We like to do as many activities outside in the park as possible to take advantage of our beuatiful 6 acre of 60 year-old trees. Do bring wind breakers as spring may bring the wind. If it rains we will take the festival inside the community center during the day on Saturday.

What does it Cost

as a non-profit organization, Forrest Fest operates on Donations. A donation of $10.00 is suggested but all events are no charge. The buffett is a pot-luck; everybody brings a dish; the main course is provided . Volunteers get in free for Steve Brooks traditional show at the Sky Vue Drive Inn on Friday night during the Lamesa performance.
