The guidelines for the annual Poetry Peggy Zuleika Lynch poetry contest are included here and you will also find links to other poetry contest pages that we find interesting or unusual. We have named our poetry contest for Peggy Lynch as her work embodies the spirit of Forrest Fest and the furthering of the art of poetry for everyone. She has been an inspiration and and a good friend.

Peggy Zuleika Lynch

Peggy Zuleika Lynch,

is a poet and lecturer in her native state of Texas. She received a BS degree from UT in Austin and an MFA from SMU. She has been honored with five Pushcart Prize nominations. In 1983 she and her husband, Major General Edmund C. Lynch co-founded Poetry in the Arts promoting poetry, music, and art. promote poetry as a cultural alternative in Austin, Texas, and provide a forum for poets and artists. Then, in 1986, PITA received its charter from the state of Texas as a literary nonprofit corporation.

PITA is a collaborative effort involving poets, writers, educators, the business community and volunteers from throughout society who are committed to promoting the literary arts and artists. PITA's efforts include expanding publication and awards opportunities and providing promotional services to help advance the interests of poets and writers.

In 2005 at the 18th World Congress of Poets, Peggy Lynch was crowned Poet Laureate International and became the Permanent VP of the United Poets Laureate International. Lynch has authored 9 books of poetry, co-authored 12 additional poetry books, and co-edited 15 anthologies.

Peggy Zuleika Lynch Poetry Contest

Two Categories:     (ONLY 1 submission per entrant)
Adult Poetry, Any Form
Children's Poetry, Any Form (12and Under)
Young People Any Foem (13-17)
Participants should send adult, young people and children's category poems on a single page, less than 32 line Limit, with a cover page that includes the title of the poems and the name of the poet; Your presence at the festival to receive a first place award for these two categories this year, 2012, is requested. Certificates can be mailed. Any other honoarariums for these two categories will need to be picked up at the 6pm awards presentation in Pioneer Park Center.

Adult 18 and over ~1st Place $75.00 | Children 12 & under ~ 1st Place $75.00
Young People 13 to 17~ $75
